Eggs. We love ’em. They’re tasty, good for us, and can be wonderful for our health (in moderation, of course). They’re packed with protein and different vitamins and minerals that promote healthier hair and nails. What about our skin? Here are two different face egg masks for different skin types.
1. Oily/Acne-Prone Skin
Ingredients:
– the white of 1 egg
– lemon juice (optional)
Directions:
1. Separate one egg into two bowls. For oily skin, only the white is needed.
2. (Optional) Add a few drops of lemon juice to egg white.
3. Beat with a fork until frothy.
4. Spread on to cleansed face using your fingers, avoiding the eye area.
5. Wait 15-30 minutes until the egg white mixture has hardened on your face.
(Avoid moving around too much. The mixture will dry and should feel tight on your skin.)
6. Rinse off with warm water.
Benefits of this mask?
– Egg whites will help tighten enlarged pores, typical for oily/acne-prone skin.
– Works as a mini-facelift to firm/tighten the skin from the chemical properties of the egg.
– Possibly fights acne.
-Lightens dark spots, such as previous pimple scars.
– Lemon juice helps eliminate oil…fight age spots…acne…blackheads…sunspots…discoloration…remove dead skin cells…and MORE.
2. Dry Skin
Ingredients:
– the yolk of 1 egg
– teaspoon of honey (optional)
Directions:
1. Separate one egg into two bowls. For dry skin, only the yolk is needed.
2. (Optional) Add a teaspoon of honey.
3. Stir the mixture until all combined.
4. Spread on to cleansed face using your fingers, avoiding the eye area.
5. Wait 15-30 minutes until the egg yolk mixture has almost hardened.
6. Rinse off with warm water.
Benefits of this mask?
– Yolks are PACKED with vitamins A, D, and E. The benefits you get from eating the yolk are the same when using it on your skin.
– The lipids in egg yolks help moisturize dry skin.
– Beyond its sweet taste, honey is known to be very moisturizing and draws water TO the skin.
