Athletic Chic

As a former competitive gymnast, I grew highly accustomed to wearing leotards (a.k.a. “leos”), velvety warm-ups, and all other kinds of sportswear. Basically, the majority of my closet consisted of polyester and spandex. Some of you may know through my Instagram that I dropped into American Eagle Outfitters during the past Labor Day Weekend and purchased this black peplum top in disbelief that it was meant for working out. I bought it with full intentions to maybe…possibly…potentially get myself back into exercising more often – considering I’m nowhere in the shape I was when I was still competing.

AEO Performance T-Shirt (on sale 40% off), Silence + Noise Skirt, ASOS Necklace, Nine West Sandals

With its perfect peplum shape and comfortable, breathable, stretchy fabric, there was no way I could wear this shirt just for exercising.

I paired it with an equally breathable, water-colored asymmetrical skirt  – that I prefer wearing as a high-low  – along with some sparkly accents for a sporty-meets-polished look that’s perfectly acceptable to wear outside of the gym.
