Back Home

Thank God that after a great trip to California, our whole family arrived back safely. SoCal is beautiful all-year round. The weather is absolutely perfect and definitely very consistent at about 40 degrees in the morning and night and 70-80 degrees during the day – very different from our bipolar Texas weather. One of my favorite parts of vacation is looking back on all the pictures taken. Today was the first day back at school, and oh boy! I don’t know about you, but I feel I’ve definitely had too much time off. I miss winter break and California already, but I know it’s time to get back into the swing of things, so below are some of my favorite pictures that include food and some “tourist-y” places to reminisce on while I wait for the next time I can relax and enjoy the things I love most.

Casey’s Cupcakes
 Their “Rockin’ Red Velvet” Cupcake
When cupcake stores have a sticker that says they’ve won Cupcake Wars on their boxes, of course I would be drawn to it. The interior of the “cupcakery” was girly, pink, feminine, and just a whole lot of fun to be in. The red velvet cupcake was no disappointment either as it was fluffy and not overly sweet, but just the right amount of sweetness in the cream cheese frosting to help out the cupcake. Unfortunately, the box ruined the pretty lil’ thing!
Montage Laguna Beach, CA
Personally, being able to walk on or see a beach is so rare because there isn’t one that’s convenient enough to go to all the time. I really treasure this picture of me being able to pull up a maxi-dress and just be carefree walking in the water with the cool air.

Coconut Mango Mochi Roll at Phoenix Food Boutique
I can’t even describe to you how much our entire family loved this mochi. We went once and got a box that looked like the one above…and then got a second box…then went the next day to buy more. And this place wasn’t even close to our hotel. If you don’t know what mochi is, it’s a Japanese rice cake made with glutinous rice that has a sort of soft, sticky, and chewy texture. The one we loved so much is covered in coconut flakes and the mochi was so delicate, soft, and lightly sweet. It covered a really lush and sweet mango strip and and some sort of creamy mango thing that is nameless for now. It was so delicious.
The G.P.S. became very useful.
The lifesaver of our trip.
Hilarious reindeer balloons in South Coast Plaza – Costa Mesa, CA
These balloons were so ridiculously funny! I couldn’t help but just crack up when I saw adults helping out their kids by walking the animals such as reindeer, zebras, and frogs.
