Gelateria Gemelli

One thing you might not know about me is that gelato, ice cream, or anything of the sort is my favorite dessert. It’s my go-to treat any day of the week, and it always puts me in a good mood. (Anyone feel me on that?) A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I had the amazing opportunity of interning with OH! Fox Creative the past two months. Luckily for me, OH! Fox’s studio space is in one of my favorite parts of town, and it’s right around the corner from this cute little gelato spot, Gelateria Gemelli! I knew I had to stop in for an afternoon treat.

It was a quiet afternoon when I dropped in, so I took my time in the shop reading what Gemelli’s is all about. As said on this little card, they support local suppliers by shopping around the area, which is great! One reason why it’s important to shop local is because it helps sustain the environment by minimizing negative environmental effects from long transportation routes. If you’re interested, here are 10 reasons why it’s important to shop local. But let’s move on. We’re here for some yummy gelato!

The storefront is filled with lots of seating at marble tables, perfect for an afternoon or after-dinner dessert date. I love the tiles on the counters’ sides and the accents of teal around the space.

I took my time trying out lots of samples. The very nice guy helping me recommended the Valrhona chocolate flavor, so I made sure to give it a go. And of course, it was delicious.

I decided on a waffle cone with a scoop of the Valrhona chocolate gelato topped with pistachio gelato. I’m not usually drawn to anything pistachio, because I always deemed it as an “old person flavor”, since it’s my dad’s go-to flavor. (Don’t tell him I said that!) But boy, this pistachio flavor was amazing. Definitely my favorite out of the ones I tried.

I walked out of Gemelli’s a happy gal that day. The shop was quite empty on the weekday afternoon I visited, but I was informed it gets popular after dinner and on the weekends. I’ll definitely be back soon to try out other flavors and items on their menu such as their affogato (espresso + gelato) and cocktails!
