Out of all beauty regimens, skincare has always been my top priority. Whenever I get the chance to go beauty shopping at Sephora or Ulta, I somehow always end up in the skincare section chatting up a storm with the skincare advisors about new products, their recommendations, and customer favorites. My morning and night skincare routines have been consistent for a while now, and I thought today would be a great day to share them with you all! Below are my current favorite products:
As a little background, I’ve always had dry skin that loves summer humidity. I still struggle with acne and acne scarring, which can be super difficult to handle, since I don’t like wearing much makeup on a regular day. The few products above are what I need in the morning to help my skin look and feel my best. Here’s what I do in the morning with my favorite products:
Step 1: Splash Face with Cold Water
The first thing I always do for my skin in the morning is splash it with cold water to wake me up. There have been interesting discussions about whether to cleanse or not to cleanse in the morning, and I’ve found that not using a cleanser in the morning works best for my dry skin.
Step 2: Moisturize | CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion
The next thing I do is apply a moisturizing lotion. A few dermatologists I’ve visited in the past have recommended CeraVe over other brands, since their products don’t contain lanolin, a common ingredient found in skincare products that irritates my skin. I’ve used this lotion for years, and I still love it to this day, because it doesn’t have a scent, and it absorbs quickly.
Step 3: Apply Face Oil | Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil
A skincare advisor at Sephora recommended this face oil to me about a year ago, and I’ve been hooked ever since. This face oil has changed my skin by making it more supple and even in texture. It’s really special, because it helps make dry areas moisturized, while calming down oily areas, and it’s perfect for that dreaded airplane air/travel skin. I press two drops into my face, and let it absorb into my skin before applying makeup. A few more great things about this product are that it’s 99% natural and smells really luxurious.
Step 4: Tap on Eye Cream | 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
You might be familiar with this product, because I’ve mentioned it before in my everyday makeup favorites. I use just a small amount on my finger to dab on this eye cream to get rid of puffiness and dark circles. It doesn’t irritate my eyes, absorbs quickly, and smells so sweet and yummy.
Step 5: Apply Sunscreen Base | Supergoop! CC Cream
Another longtime favorite on The Bella Insider, this CC Cream blurs imperfections and provides sun protection. The color selection isn’t great, but if it works for you, I highly recommend it for its incredible ability to reduce redness and inflammation. I use the shade Light/Medium and blend out a pea-sized amount all over my face and neck with my fingers.
Here’s what I do at night:
Step 1: Remove Makeup | Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil
I hopped on the oil makeup remover train a while ago, and this stuff is my absolute favorite. A few pumps of this product, a quick face massage, and a rinse will instantly help melt off makeup while leaving skin feeling moisturized. This bottle comes in different sizes that are perfect for travel or small living spaces.
Step 2: Cleanse Skin | CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser + Clarisonic Mia 2
I use this cleanser to make my skin feel extra clean after I remove my makeup. I don’t use my Clarisonic every day, since it seems to be a bit too much for my skin right now, but I’ve seen the texture of my skin has really improved with consistent use, and it helps other products sink into my skin more easily.
Step 3: Apply a Face Mask | Origins Clear Improvement Mask
I only do this a few times a week, but I find wearing face masks so relaxing. I love the Clear Improvement Mask, because it really helps refine and further clean my skin. Every pimple I have is less red the next morning, and it makes my skin feel super soft. This Origins one is my current favorite, but I have some other face mask favorites listed here.
Step 4: Moisturize | CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion
Before applying anything else on my face, I again use this CeraVe lotion to moisturize my face. I really enjoy this lotion, because it absorbs quickly and layers well with other products.
Step 5: Apply Corrector Serum | Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector
This product has helped lighten up some of my past dark acne marks. It takes a little while to see results, but this product has been helpful with the tough marks. I love that this serum doesn’t have a scent and feels lightweight.
Step 6: Apply Face Oil | Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil
Instead of using two drops like in the morning, I usually use three to four at night. My skin drinks up the moisture from this oil, and using it at night has completely changed the texture of my skin for the better.
Step 7: Dab on Moisturizing Eye Cream | Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
This eye cream doesn’t specifically have anti-aging properties, but keeping the skin around the eye area hydrated helps my eyes look more refreshed in the morning. A little goes a long way with this product, so it’ll last for a long time. I’m not a huge fan of jar packaging, so I recommend using cosmetic spatulas to prevent contaminating the product.
Do you have any products you stand by for morning or night? I would love to know, because I love trying out new products. Thanks so much for reading today!
I loved this post! I've been wanting to try the CeraVe moisturizer, and now I might just have to! I have such dry skin and it gets so much worse in the summer. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, Ashley! CeraVe lotion is simply the best moisturizer I've come across. I love that I can get it at the drugstore and that it's super gentle! Thanks so much for stopping by! XO, Sarah
I've never heard of balancing face oil! I'll have to check it out! I use witch hazel (from any drugstore) morning and night as a toner. I recently discovered cliniques charcoal mask and love how clean it feels (use just a few times a week).
Hi, Jen! I had never heard of it either until this product. It's very unique, and I'm so glad I have it in my skincare product collection now. Isn't charcoal amazing? I love what it can do! Thanks for stopping by, Jen! XO, Sarah
I enjoyed your AM and PM skin care routine items and sometimes I do splash my face with cold water without scrubbing again with my dry skin, esp I did an intense facial scrub the night before!
