Texas French Bread: Fall Garden Party 2015

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. I had a great day at church on Saturday and spent time with family friends that night. After a restful sleep, I spent the majority of yesterday studying for a petroleum fluids exam I have this evening. For a little study break, my friend, Allison, and I went to a bakery + bistro called Texas French Bread for an event called their “Fall Garden Party” where we had the opportunity to sample free small bites and have a few drinks.

It was a short walk from where we live so we got there at exactly 6 p.m. Upon first look, I was completely enamored by the restaurant’s inviting backyard seating area. There were plenty of places to sit and I loved the string lights. It was also perfect evening weather for an outdoor event like this.

I enjoyed being able to get my own drinks when we arrived. We both got herbal tea and found a table under some shade for two. We sampled their crostinis, including a sweet potato one, ricotta + honey + thyme one, and one with liver and whole grain mustard. My favorite one was most definitely the ricotta + honey + thyme. Sweet and creamy and delicious!

I liked that people could order more substantial meals if they wanted a little something more to eat. Allison suggested to get an order of fries and I was definitely on board, because oh boy, I love fries almost as much as her. TFB’s fries were very, very good — crispy and perfectly tender. The garlic aioli that came with the fries were delicious but we wanted some ketchup as well a few minutes afterwards. The person helping us came back quickly with our request.

I was impressed with the backyard seating and the friendly staff, so I am definitely going to come back for breakfast or brunch sometime soon, because their menus looks delicious. Please let me know if there are any other restaurants in Austin you would like me to try! I hope all of you have a great week.
