Hi, everyone! I hope y’all had a fabulous weekend. I spent my last few days enjoying my time back home. It’s been almost a month since I’ve been in Houston so it was a nice change from the school scene.
This weekend was an especially great time to come home because my local church was having evangelical services and I saw lots of new faces, old friends and growing kids! Wow, they’re all getting tall! I had a great weekend listening and learning. Also, I was happy to know I was still welcome to sing in our church choir.

There are some things about home that I don’t realize I miss until I’m actually there. For example, I didn’t realize how much I missed my mom’s Indonesian coconut rice and rendang {Indonesian beef stew}. Though I have occasional cravings for her cooking while I’m away at school, I didn’t particularly miss these two dishes until my mom had them ready for my dinner after I got home late Friday night. I know lots of family friends who crave coconut rice and rendang together, so I definitely need to master my mom’s two recipes when I get a kitchen of my own.

Another thing I missed was doing homework at our dining table like I used to do in high school. I love that I’m able to sprawl out my things on a big table. Plus, being steps away from my mom’s fully stocked fridge full of snacks doesn’t hurt either.

I’m on my way back to Austin now for school but to count my blessings, at least I don’t have class until 2 p.m. I’ll be preparing for my second exam of the semester so I hope to get lots of productive studying done this week. Have a great Monday!
