This post is kindly brought to you by Rohto. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.
Let’s be honest here: I’ve never been one to pack lightly. I made a goal this year to pack as little as possible, starting with my overnight bag. As a college student, I’m a big proponent of having an already packed overnight bag: a small bag you can stow away in your car/closet that you can reach for straight away in case you can’t go home for the night.
“Okay, Sarah. Why do I need to keep an already packed bag?” Y’all, I can’t even tell you how many times it has saved me in the past. For all those times you have to pull an all-nighter away from home, wind up staying over at a friend’s apartment overnight, because it felt too late to go home, or maybe even end up in emergency care (let’s hope that doesn’t happen, but it’s happened before), you’ll thank yourself for having a bag packed and ready to go! This bag also works perfectly for a quick weekend trip. Here are some thing I recommend keeping in your overnight bag:
Toiletries
I keep all my makeup and toiletries in a handy toiletries bag. It has three compartments, so I like to organize them according to needs. In the first section, I keep all my teeth cleaning essentials: a manual toothbrush, tongue brush, floss, and a mini toothpaste. Contacts wearers, I highly recommend bringing along as little bottles as possible. I love a one-step hydrogen peroxide solution for my hard contact lenses. Plus, it’s like performing a science experiment every morning. I also like to keep a bottle of Rohto eyedrops in case of a late night, and I don’t want to risk looking scary in the morning. A few drops in the morning work well after a long night out! Fun trick: eye drops also work well to combat redness on an emergency blemish. I still use this trick to this day! Just take a folded tissue, squeeze a drop or two on the edge, and press the tissue gently on the blemish. Redness gone! Though Halloween is over, I think this video is still quite the hoot. Check it out!
I try my best to be no-fuss about my hair, so I just keep a hair brush and hair ties in this section. I’m always one to use an oil cleanser to remove my makeup, but I can’t be bothered on trips or overnight stays anywhere. Makeup wipes are my absolute favorite for this reason. While they do a great job taking off my makeup, I always make sure to follow up with a good cleanser and moisturizer. I love that my favorite cleanser comes in a mini size! In this section of the toiletries organizer, I also like to keep all my makeup essentials for a quick, fast, no-fuss look.
Clothing
Bring something comfortable—a no-brainer outfit that you know will make you feel your best no matter what. I really like a comfortable t-shirt dress, as featured here on the blog. I also like the “rolling method” to conserve space.
Shoes
Shoes are tricky to pack, because they always seem to take up a lot of space. Plus, they can get heavy. If it’s an overnight trip, it’s probably not necessary to pack an extra, but no weekend trip feels complete without bringing an extra pair just in case. A good pair of nude flats have been my absolute favorites since 10thgrade in high school. They’re comfortable, match my skin tone perfectly, and pair with absolutely any outfit. I embarrassingly admit I’ve gone through about four pairs of the same shoe!
As y’all know from my Snapchat and Instagram feed, I took a quick trip to Chicago! I actually took this overnight bag with me, so packing was an absolute breeze the night before! I stayed at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, and the room didn’t disappoint one bit. The views were spectacular and the bed…oh, the comfy bed! I had a super long day before starting with a 7 AM exam, so a good night’s sleep was exactly what I needed! I’m finally home from Chicago, but I’ll continue sharing pictures from the trip @sarah_thebella. Thank you for stopping by on the blog!

The rolling trick is one of my favorite! It's a great way to save space and keep your clothes from getting too wrinkly!
