What’s In My February 2016 Birchbox?

Happy Friday, my friends! Ever since a family friend gifted me a Birchbox subscription a year ago, I have been hooked. I love trying out new beauty products, and subscription boxes like Birchbox make it really easy to experiment with new things without having to go to a store. I get super excited when I receive new Birchboxes, because it’s like getting gifts every month! My roommate and I have a good time peeking through it together.

{How cute is this box?!}

I’ve received so many great products over the last few months that I have ended up buying full-size, like my foundation and my favorite lip products. I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts – both good and bad – on the products that are in my boxes. Here is what I got in my Birchbox this February:

Almost $33 worth of products this month! Four sample/travel-size and one full-size product.

From left to right:

1. Whish Revitalizing Cleansing Oil | Full-size, $30
Cleansing oils are my jam, because they clean makeup off without leaving my skin feeling dry and tight. I have a few favorite oil-based makeup removers already, but this one smells really good, like peach gummy candy that I used to eat as a kid. The gel-like consistency of this product emulsifies with just a bit of warm water and does an amazing job cleaning off my makeup. I’ll probably have to add this to my list of makeup remover favorites. Full-size retails for $30, so this sample-size product is worth almost $4.50.

2. Obliphica Professional Seaberry Serum (Medium to Coarse)  | Full-size, $38
First off, I love that this serum comes with a pump. It makes it much easier to dispense the right amount of product, which is important with hair serums, because a little goes a long way. My hair felt so soft and looked so shiny after rubbing just a pea-size amount through my hair. I love that this product can also be used on wet or dry hair, but be warned: this product leaves a very sweet smell. It can be a good or bad thing depending on your scent preferences. Full-size retails for $38, so this travel-friendly size is worth almost $9.

3. Color Club That’s My Jam Mini Polish  | Full-size, $8.50
This polish says that it’s vegan, 100% cruelty free, and made in the USA. I have yet to try out how it wears, but I love the deep wine color that’s reminiscent to red velvet cake and how it’s exclusive to Birchbox. I think it would be a great color to use for a date night. This sample is half the size of the full-size product, so the sample is worth $4.25.

4. Not Soap, Radio Liquid Freud Body Wash  | Full-size, $16
To any of you girls that got this product in your boxes, do you think it smells weird? Because I definitely do. I’m not a fan of this coconut-milk and mango-scented body wash, because I think it’s too heavily scented with artificial vanilla. Despite the smell, I think the packaging is unique; it reminds me of something I would find at the Urban Outfitters beauty section. There are other body wash scents (with pretty amusing names) from the Not Soap, Radio brand, so I hope to get another, because they also double as bubble bath liquid. This sample-size is worth $1.30.

5. ARROW BOOST Color Enhancing Lip Balm  | Full-size, $14

I’m so excited I got a full-size sample of this product, because it really is amazing. (See my favorite lip balms here.) Although it has a somewhat odd flavor, it leaves a glossy, flushed pink tint based on the pH of your lips and leaves them feeling moisturized for hours. It’s also vegan, paraben-free, cruelty-free, and gluten-free! The only downside is that it’s currently out of stock on the Birchbox website, but I’m sure it will be back soon. This size was worth $14.

Birchbox is a $10/month subscription box that sends around five travel-size or full-size beauty items. My box was worth almost $33, which is a crazy deal. If you’re already subscribed to Birchbox, let me know if you loved a particular product in your box. I hope y’all have a fabulous weekend.

Hi, Edye! It definitely is a gorgeous color, and I can't wait to try it! I have only ever seen Color Club at nail salons. I wonder where they would be available for purchase in stores!

    Cheers, Sarah

I enjoyed your February Birchbox review and while I am not a fan of Color Club polish, I do love everything else in your box! I totally loved my Whish Oil product for my face!

I love the color, but it doesn't apply as smoothly as others! I enjoy the Whish Oil as well. I would love to get that in full size! XO, Sarah
